In order to win a race, you first have to finish it, so ensuring good reliability is of course essential. We can supply the leading engineering simulation software from MSC.Software to help you to quickly design components quickly and, most importantly, right first time. We can also supply some of the industries best tools for simulating your vehicles suspension, ride and handling performance, including fully dynamic lap time prediction.

Strength

Finite element solutions from MSC (MD Nastran, SimXpert) can work closely with your 3d CAD model to mesh, assemble and solve your models to predict strength and stiffness, add in some loading data from MD ADAMS or VI-CarRealTime and you can predict fatigue life.

To automate things you can make use of MD Nastran's multi-model multi-disciplinary topology optimisation to quickly arrive at the optimal design of a component based on its actual use.

Performance

When designing a new race car, you should know how it is going to perform long before building it, giving plenty of time to learn which setup to use at which race track. The track performance of a race car is dependant on many factors, and using the valuable practise and qualifying time to find a reasonable setup the traditional way is time consuming and likely to leave you at the back of the grid. Using accurate and fast laptime simulation software can allow you to experiment with, and optimise the racecar setup in advance of a race weekend, so that those vital practise and qualifying sessions are used to undertake fine tuning of the setup. Making use of simulation helps you to understand the complex relationship between component properties and track performance.

For those teams with smaller budgets we can offer VI-MotorSport, a fully self contained suite of software tools that allow you to work with predefined suspension templates, in VI-SuspensionGen, to enter key hardpoint data. You then have the power of fully dynamic vehicle dynamics simulation to look at open loop, closed loop and maximum performance lap time prediction. VI-MotorSport is based on VI-CarRealTime so naturally runs significantly quicker than real time. Results postprocessing and animation is performed using VI-Animator.

For the teams with larger resources, we recommend using VI-Motorsport in conjuction with VI-SportsCar and MD ADAMS/Car, giving you the very best of the detailed analysis offered by MD ADAMS coupled with the faster than realtime lap time simulations offered by the VI-CarRealTime engine in VI-MotorSport.
